Kalamazoo Yesteryears was a semester-long project where my group created and grew a Facebook page focused on Kalamazoo’s history. Our goal was to reach 1,000 organic likes, so we built our strategy around three key customer personas: a WMU student new to the city, a long-time local who enjoys nostalgia, and a community-focused follower who values storytelling.

We created a consistent posting schedule with themed days like WMU Wednesdays and Fun Fact Fridays, and we monitored our analytics weekly to adjust visuals, topics, and timing for stronger engagement.

By the end of the semester, we reached over 400 organic followers. Even though we didn’t hit the 1,000-like goal, we were still one of the best-performing pages in the class. Through this project, I was able to grow my skills in content strategy, audience research, analytics, and building a social media presence from the ground up.
